Methodology
Component 1 – teacher sample*
A province-wide cross-sectional survey of elementary school teachers in Quebec. The survey documents their perspectives on the quality of their relationships and communication with their students’ parents, as well as the factors, facilitators, and barriers that influence them.
Component 2 – parent sample
A province-wide longitudinal survey of parents of elementary school (or preschool) students in Quebec. It documents parents’ perspectives on the quality of their relationship and communication with their child’s classroom teacher, as well as the facilitators and barriers to these interactions and how they contribute to the quality of parents’ involvement in their child’s education and academic success.
*Since 89% of elementary school teachers are women (Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec), the feminine form is used in the French version to simplify the text.
