Methodology
Phase 1 – qualitative
Focus groups and qualitative questionnaires were used to describe the satisfaction and frustration of parents’ psychological needs and identify their determinants.
Phase 2 – quantitative
A province-wide longitudinal survey study was conducted by having parents of elementary school students fill an online questionnaire to validate and generalize the findings from Phase 1. This phase aims to describe parental needs satisfaction and frustration, identify the determinants of parental needs, and assess their contribution to the quality of parents’ involvement in their child’s schooling.
