Methodology
Phase 1 – qualitative
Focus groups designed to describe parents’ motivation and engagement in participating on their child’s school governing board . An expert committee to assess the clarity and relevance of a questionnaire on the quality of the school gorverning board’s functioning.
Phase 2 – quantitative
A province-wide longitudinal survey of parents of elementary school students in Quebec. It aims to document the experiences of parents who participate on school governing boards, their motivations for getting involved, the quality of school governing board functioning, as well as the barriers and factors that facilitate their decision to get involved.
